I was not expecting a road trip, I'll tell you that. Unfortunately, it's not a west trip, which sucks. Going north, on what sounds like a grain train. On the one hand, it's a nice simple train. On the other, it's a really long, heavy train. That has the potential to be bad.

Ah well, I need the money, and since I'm done in a few days, this'll be a nice little chunk of change.

...Also, I totally need a train icon. Gonna have to find/make one eventually.

Huh indeed. Maybe they're looking to get their money's worth out of you before they officially lay you off? In any case, good luck and have fun.

The north was...very busy. In fact, if you were inclined towards that sort of language, you might say it was a giant cluster-fuck in progress. One, thankfully, that we avoided. There and back in twelve hours, woo!

It was kind of hilarious, actually. The train up there was an empty grain train with three engines, so it ran like a dream. Stopped on a dime, and as smooth a ride as you could ask for.

The train back? A loaded pipe train, fifty cars, and maybe 6000 tons. Not actually heavy, but holy hell, riding that train was like a very slow-motion case of whiplash. The cars kept sneaking up behind us and kicking us in the seat. And now that the frost is melting, there's soft spots all over the subdivisions. That means it's like a very slow, very heavy rollercoaster that isn't actually fun.

Ah well, it was a very short trip back. Everyone was out of our way, and we got out of Red Deer just before everything went to hell, which was great.
