...Oh hey, the title kind of says it all, really.
I don't mind the RD sub itself, it's pretty, short and not actually a bad ride, as long as you've got the power to make it up the damned hills. Unfortunately, that was the issue today.
Ten thousand ton train, (five thousand feet whut?), with one road unit and a small high speed. ...That's barely enough to move a light train, never mind a heavy bastard like this one. Nobody was sure how it made it from Edmonton to Red Deer, not even the crew.
So of course we had to pick up another road unit, and wouldn't you know it, the shops at Red Deer were cleaning all the power there.
Four hours later, we've finally got a decent consist, and we headed out.
The trip itself wasn't actually that bad, mostly because we'd given our notice, the RTC was desperate to get us into Alyth, the sub was completely clogged and there were no crews available. Which is hilarious, really.
In conclusion, I'm tired, not sunburned (thank god), and ready to sleeeeep.
